Forum Title: How to Soften Carpet Cleaning Brushes? For a Low Speed Floor Machine
Hi Guys, One of the machines I use is a 20in Low speed floor machine (Pullman Holt). I bought a .22 Carpet Brush to use on Commercial low pile carpet.http://www.cleaningstuff.net/cleanin...ning-Brush.htm The problem is the Carpet brush is too stiff. The machine is not able to rotate it on low pile carpet. I tried conditioning it on concrete for a bit but it didn't make much of a difference. Is there another way to soften the bristles? All information appreciated. Jack

Jack, Before 'running in' on concrete, try soaking the brush in hot water hot 5 minutes. This makes a difference, especially on polypropolene bristles, in that in addition to dressing the bristle-tip, the lay of the bristles is re-set slightly by the rotation. This will not work on monkey-bass or other natural fibre bristles.

When you are starting it up is the carpet wet or dry? If it is dry it is all ways harder to start. The other problem I would think is a 20 in. floor machine is pretty big for using on carpet. I am using a 15 in and I think it is a bit large as well. Ron
